About Us

Whilst studying textile design in London, Selkirk Weaving Company began producing a narrow straight hand woven wool tie, in classical tweed fabrics, which became a tremendous success with stores such as Simpsons, Aquascutum, Moss Bros and Burberry, who found the ties were a popular item with their customers. Soon the demand for the product was such that it was necessary to have the ties mass-produced.

To enable him to produce a wide variety of exclusive designs for his ties, Anthony decided that it was necessary to start his own weaving mill, and in 1975 Selkirk Weaving Company Ltd was formed. This enabled him not only to produce cloth for the tie collections, but to extend his ideas to quality tweed fabric for ladies and menswear.

Breaking away from the traditional Scottish look, Anthony soon found a market for his classical designs for ladies and menswear tweed fabrics with Couture Houses, including Vivien Westwood in London, and Christian Dior in Paris.

After appointing agents in America, France, Italy, Japan and South Korea, most of the Mill's output is now for export.
